First year students

Congratulations and welcome to University,

If all goes well you’re going to be here for at least three years.  One piece of advice we can guarantee you is that getting out there and making friends at university will be the best decision you'll ever make. Personally, it has helped us to put in less effort in and still pass units, and meant we've had the time of our lives doing so.

The 2017 committee can all agree that the reason we became a part of Science Union was because their events led us to meet so many new and diverse people, and above that, have an amazing time with them - this stands for events run by other clubs as well.

It is also important to remember that everyone is in a similar boat to you as they come to university. Everyone is entering a brand new world. Older students have been through the same things that you are going through, and can give you some advice. Whether that is which units are useful, what parties are the most fun, or how to best fake an illness to get an extension, we'd be happy to help. We’ve all been there. It's also worth mentioning that it's a good idea getting out there and meeting our fantastic committee - SU prides ourselves on running events in which everyone feels welcome to come to, so you're sure to fit right in.

This is what we have organized specifically for First Year students:
